At Oakes College Cambridge there are TWO course options for studying English:
English Literature
If you like reading widely and enjoy exploring literature, this course will give you the opportunity to study and consider a range of literary texts, develop your ideas and broaden your critical skills.
You will study a range of poems from three different writers spanning both pre-1900 and post-1900. You will also explore a play by Shakespeare and another pair of plays linked by theme, including one written in the 20th Century. You will be able to follow your own interests in studying two works of prose fiction of your own choice, including one written in the 21st Century. Finally, you will be assessed in your ability to analyse unseen texts.
