Psychology

 

Psychology is one of the fastest-growing university subjects and is now the fourth most popular A-level.  Psychology touches virtually every aspect of life, as it seeks to explain human thoughts and behaviours.

Psychology – Year 1
Topics covered include: human memory and eye-witness testimony, attachments and infant development, conformity, obedience and minority influence as well as research methods.

Psychology – Year 2
The year 2 course will build on your knowledge, skills and understanding developed in year 1.  You will look in depth at biopsychology, relationships, aggression and schizophrenia, as well as considering issues and debates within Psychology

Assessment (Exam Board – AQA)

  • Paper 1 : 2 hour exam
  • Paper 2 : 2 hour exam
  • Paper 3 : 2 hour exam


Entry Requirements

7 Higher Grades

  • Grade 5 (or above) for Maths
  • Grade 4 (or above) for English
  • Grade 4 (or above) for other GCSE subjects
  • 1 BTEC (or equivalent) at Merit or above may be included within the 7 grades
