Religion, Philosophy & Ethics

This course will involve you in the study of religion, philosophy and ethics.  It follows the AQA Religious Studies (7062) specification for first teaching from September 2016.

The religion studied for the religious part of the course is Christianity.  Students must study all three elements of the course (religion, philosophy and ethics) to gain an A-level.  The course runs over two years and students will be expected to continue studying through the full two years and sit their external examination at the end of the course.

Assessment (Exam Board – AQA)
This course is assessed through two examinations of three hours each, at the end of the second year of study.  Exam questions are in the style of essays and there will be a synoptic section, which requires students to draw on everything they have learnt over the two years.

Students will be expected to master the skills of showing knowledge and understanding of the theories, concepts and issues discussed.  They will also be expected to be able to analyse and evaluate theories and question their usefulness or validity.
