All students who enrol with us will be allocated their own personal computer and email accounts. These accounts will enable access to the computer systems on site, as well as Google services such as Classroom, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms and Slides. We also offer access to Microsoft Office and cloud services. Those studying creative subjects will have a full Adobe CC subscription for the duration of their course. This subscription can be used at home.
These accounts will remain live and accessible for the duration of their time at college. At the end of Year 13, students will still be able to access these accounts up until 31st October, at which time they will be deleted. Students are asked to ensure that they copy/forward any work or emails that they wish to keep, to their personal email/devices, well in advance of the October deadline.
For any students who purchase new laptops or devices during their time at Oakes College, we recommend that they do not create online accounts for the devices using their Oakes email addresses, as these accounts will be disabled when they leave Oakes College and may lead to students being locked out of the device.
All students are welcome to bring their own devices to College, and can use these to access the Internet using our high speed BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) system. This access will be subject to school internet filtering policies that are in place for safeguarding reasons.
