How do I get to Oakes College?

BUS
Free Tiger Bus Pass – Mayor’s £1 Fares for Under 25s in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Great news for young people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough! The Combined Authority has launched the Tiger bus pass, offering bus fares for just £1 for those under 25. The new Tiger bus pass is free of charge and designed to make public transport more affordable for young people, helping them travel to school, college, training, work, shopping, and social activities. Applying for your free Tiger bus pass is simple and quick:
1. Visit the application site: Apply for your Tiger pass
2. Upload a photo and proof of age
3. Receive your Tiger pass free of charge – credit card sized tiger branded card that’s easy to recognise and use
Oakes College is served by the Stagecoach Citi1 bus route, which stops directly outside the College and runs every 12 minutes from the city centre, via the Railway Station and Addenbrookes Hospital.

Some students may qualify for a concessionary bus pass. Financial support is only available for students living in low income households who meet Cambridgeshire County Council’s qualifying criteria. Visit Post-16 Transport.
GUIDED BUS
Some students may travel in from Huntingdon or St Ives and the Guided Bus is also an option. It stops at various locations on route including Swavesey and Longstanton, enabling students to switch to the Citi 1 bus at either the City Centre, Railway Station or Addenbrookes. The Busway – Information
TRAIN
Student Connect Cards – a third off rail travel for 16-17 year olds. Thameslink offer students the opportunity to apply for a Student Connect card which entitles 16-17 year olds in full time education, one third off Season Tickets for their specified journey on certain routes. To check whether your journey qualifies and to apply, please visit Thameslink. This card is free. The offer has been available for the last few years but we cannot guarantee that it will continue.
Greater Anglia offer discounts with an Academic Pass. Train ticket discounts are available for all ages, 16 to 19-year-olds in full-time education could save 50% on Season Tickets valid for a complete term or academic year. Travel must be between any two stations within the Greater Anglia network and excludes Travelcard and Oyster areas.
There is also the 16-25 Railcard, which is very flexible and can be used at any time during the week and out of term time. Please note: there is a charge for this card and there may be other conditions which apply, such as a minimum spend, so please check carefully before proceeding. Apply here.

WALK AND CYCLE
Many local students walk or cycle. Students who are eligible for a bus pass but who wish to cycle to college may apply for a grant of £40 per term to subsidise their costs. Students will be sent the relevant application form at the end of each term, via their college email.
CAR PARKING
Onsite parking for college students is not available unless there is a medical need or disability. If you believe you may qualify, please contact the College Office.
