EPQ (Extended Project Qualification)
What is EPQ?
The Extended Project Qualification is an A-Level standard stand alone Level 3 qualification that is accredited by AQA.
An independent research project where you can produce either:
- A written report
- An artefact
- A performance
- A prototype or model
- A computer program
- A recording of a creative/performing arts project
You complete this project independently, with the support of your supervisor.
How is EPQ different to other subjects?
- You chose what to study
- You have to conduct independent research and learning
- You have to plan, deliver and present your work
Why do EPQ?
- Chance to explore an area of interest
- Chance to develop skills that will help with university study
- UCAS points equal to 40% of an A-Level
What does EPQ require?
You need to:
- Choose a topic and identify clear aims and objectives
- Plan, research and carry out a project
- Attend regular meetings with your supervisor
- Provide evidence at all stages of your project through an online log
- Write a written report of between 1000 and 5000 words (dependent upon your project)
- Carry out a presentation to a non-specialist audience
- Reflect on what you have learnt from the process

- Are there benefits to bare-foot running?
- A production of an original theatre performance
- Designing and making a prom dress
- Delivering first aid training to primary school students
- Designing a range of skateboards
