A-Level Physics

Physics tells us stories about how the world works and leads to exciting technologies that can improve our lives.

Year 12: Foundations, Mechanics & Core Physics

Students establish core scientific techniques by analysing how forces shape motion, energy efficiency, and structural materials. They then investigate physical invisible phenomena, mastering electrical circuit behaviours, wave optics, and the foundational anomalies of quantum physics. Practical work focuses heavily on precise measurement techniques and circuit analysis.

Year 13: Space, Fields & Advanced Physics

The curriculum expands into abstract, macro, and micro scales by exploring thermal energy, ideal gases, and objects in circular rotation. Students investigate the mechanics of planetary orbits and deep cosmology before mastering the rules of gravitational, electric, and magnetic fields. Finally, they dive into nuclear structure and the engineering behind modern medical imaging systems
